The Ballistic Edge is committed to providing our
clients with the best training possible in both the
physical skills of combat marksmanship, and the
technical processes required to accurately place
shots on target from any range, under any
conditions, in a time compressed hostile
environment. |

Training Philosophy
“The slightest whim of fate may topple towers built
on weak foundations”
Our instructional method is a focused, planned
progression of learning that builds a firm
foundation of critical basic skills, before adding
advanced skill sets to create the operational
capabilities desired by the client.
“Understanding = Confidence”
 We specialize in providing solutions to common,
age-old problems encountered by professional
marksmen, including weapon issues, ballistics, and
tactics. Many arise from training programs that
teach only the minimum skills required to operate
effectively under ideal conditions with excellent
equipment. We believe over-simplification and
shortcuts can kill. The skill level provided by many
training programs fall short when problems or
complex situations are encountered, because
operators do not have an in-depth understanding of
their equipment or methods, and cannot adapt. Our
instructional method is based upon achieving
understanding, not just basic knowledge. This understanding equates to
confidence – the most important factor in
performance.
“Because it is written, doesn’t make it true, or the
best way”
TBE also endeavors to enhance long-standing sniper
training methods and operational doctrine. We
scrutinize all technical aspects of traditional
sniper doctrine for accuracy and applicability.
Where it is lacking, we correct it through research
and hard science, and measure its value against
lessons learned in current events. Because it is
written in a manual or taught in a school, does not
mean it is correct, or the best approach for the
situation at hand. Many commonly referenced manuals
and publications contain erroneous information based
on old data, junk science, or anecdotal evidence. We
strive to give our students the knowledge needed to
succeed by separating fact from lore and “urban
legend.”
“Use the best tools available, but be able to
function without them”
Our emphasis on technology and the latest
research-based methods does not mean we advocate
reliance on “gee-whiz” gadgetry, or carrying extra
equipment into the field. We believe in using every
technical advantage available during training and
data collection; however, we provide new, highly
effective techniques that avoid reliance on
technical devices which may fail in the field
environment.
“Communication is the key to learning”
Our staff consists of people with real world
experience who are also seasoned professional
trainers. Not every good sniper can make a good
instructor. Our instructors are highly effective
communicators that can relate the course material
clearly, and have the knowledge to give whatever
assistance is needed. We make use of highly
effective audio-visual classroom presentations and
the best in training aids and course support
materials to enhance learning.

is too high”
We never lose sight of what is at stake, and
consider it a moral obligation to provide the best
training possible. We will never compromise on the
quality of training we provide. Someone’s life
depends on it. |

 Why we are different
Many other training programs try to be “all things
to all people” and attempt to cover too many
different subjects during a course. This results in
a watered-down course that teaches a little about a
lot of things, but does not achieve mastery over
anything. We do not try to be “all things.” We focus
on one goal:
Bullets on target. Anywhere, under any environmental
conditions.
Unlike other training programs, we travel to the
customer instead of being tied to a fixed facility.
The majority of our training courses take place on
the range of a hosting military command or agency.
This allows more participation of sister units or
neighboring agencies. This reduces the travel cost
for the client, as we can travel cheaper than an
entire class of students.
In addition to the formalized course offerings, we
will design customized programs specific to the
needs of the hosting agency. Specialized programs
are only limited by the suitability of available
range facilities. |
